Dundee City Council has today (30th August) published further information and guidance on the waste arrangements for the city between 1st Sept and 5th Sept, before the services face a further period of strike action from 6th – 13th September inclusive.
Residents with kerbside collections should note that only scheduled general waste collections will be undertaken. All other scheduled waste collections will remain suspended during this period.
This has been necessary to allow council waste teams to prioritise areas such as care homes, residential blocks, schools, multi-storey developments and other buildings with waste chute bin systems.
Services will also be focused on clearing sites throughout the city with high accumulations of waste including Eurobins which serve communal properties, in order to mitigate public hygiene risks caused by putrescible waste, uncollected over the strike period.
Household Waste Recycling Centres will re-open between 1st and 5th September only. Residents should note that these centres will be very busy, to expect queues and that they will only be able to accept general waste during this period. Residents wishing to dispose of bulky and other recyclable items are kindly requested to hold onto these items until further notice.
Members of the public can access further detail on the latest service information and guidance on the Dundee City Council website and should also continue to regularly check our social media channels for further updates.
