Residents in Dundee are being asked to read over published council advice and guidance in order to help manage the impact of planned waste services strike action across the city.

Dundee City Council has been issued with industrial action notice that waste employees who are members of Unite the Union will strike from Wednesday 24th August to Wednesday 31st August inclusive, and between Tuesday 6th September and Tuesday 13th September inclusive.

This will result in all bin collections and street cleaning being suspended for the duration of the action. The city’s household waste recycling centres will also be closed during this period, with the council’s bulky waste uplift service and trade waste collections also not taking place.

Residents can view a comprehensive guidance webpage on the council’s website on how best to manage their waste in a safe and responsible manner during the strike.

Street cleansing employees who are members of GMB have also indicated their intention to strike starting on Friday 26th August until Monday 29th August, and then again on Wednesday 7th September until Saturday 10th September.

Members of the public can follow updates on the suspended services and details on the resumption of services following the strike action through the Dundee City Council website, and the council’s Twitter or Facebook pages.
