2022 Garden Waste Permits now available07/12/21
Dundee residents are being encouraged to renew their 2022 garden waste permits following the opening of the permit ordering system for next year.
Householders are being urged to plan ahead to ensure they are signed up in time for the first collections in March. The cost of a permit is £40 per bin. This covers the 20 collections allocated to eligible households across 2022 and works out at £2.00 per collection.
Customers who opted in to the scheme last year will automatically receive invitations either by letter or email to re-apply for the 2022 season. Reminders and updates will also feature on 2022 collection calendars and on the Council’s social media channels.
Neighbourhood Services Convener, Councillor Anne Rendall, said: “The uptake of the service in general has been very encouraging.
“The city has clearly demonstrated its commitment to achieving high standards in recycling and we continue to be ambitious in improving our targets for these in the future. The Garden Waste collection service is vital in contributing to Dundee’s green efforts.”
Members of the public can still dispose of their garden waste free of charge at the city’s household waste recycling centres located at Baldovie and Riverside.
The garden waste collected is taken to the Riverside Composting facility to create the PAS 100 quality certified Discovery Compost, which is then made available for purchase by gardeners, community groups, and farmers.
Home composting bins can also be bought in many retail outlets and are available to purchase from Dundee City Council directly for £20 with free delivery.
