Level 4 council service changes23/12/20
Following the Scottish Government’s announcement (on Sat 19th Dec), from Boxing Day Dundee and the rest of mainland Scotland will enter Level 4 Coronavirus measures to help contain the virus.
A number of Dundee City Council services will change in order to comply with the safety measures to continue providing public services whilst protecting the public from Coronavirus.
Dundee House, including the cash office, will be closed to members of the public from 24th December to 16th January 2021, or for the duration of the Level 4 Coronavirus measures. The Council tax and benefits team, and the customer services team, can still be reached on 01382 431205 or 01382 433129 respectively. Enquiries will be covered by the Out of Hours Service between Thurs 24th to Monday 28th December and Friday 1st and Monday 4th January, on 01382 307964.
All Community Centres in the city, including cafes within the premises, will close with the exception of where limited and controlled opening for Foodbanks and essential Out of School Care can take place. All other Community Learning and Development work, including ESOL and Adult Learning services, will continue to take place online. Additional information about food provision arrangements in the city’s community centres is available on the council’s website.
Council housing services will carry out emergency and urgent repairs during the Level 4 period, as well as the continuation of gas servicing works. However, capital plan projects which require work to be carried out within individual’s properties will be paused for the time being. Sheltered Housing services will continue with complexes remaining closed while staff support tenants.
Nurseries and schools will now only be open from what would have been the start of term from Thursday 7th January for children of key workers and vulnerable children. The festive holiday period has been extended for all other pupils until Monday 11th January. From then, pupils will stay at home as remote learning is provided by their nursery or school until at least Monday 18th January. An outline of the nursery and school arrangements can be found on the Dundee City Council website.
Parking charges at all council on and off-street provision will be free from Boxing Day until at least Saturday 16th January. More information about the service change can be found on the Dundee City Council website.
It should also be noted that a number of services will continue to function, in full compliance with the set measures. These include the city registrar’s services for still birth, birth and death registrations, as well as the solemnisation of marriages and registration of civil partnerships, children care and support services, the full range of homelessness services, and resilience support working with partners to combat Coronavirus.
