Extension of Period of Training Requirements for Personal Licence Holders under Section 78 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 as amended by the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 (Thurs 23 April)

The Premises Manager i.e. the person named on the operating plan must be the holder of a personal licence. A copy of the application for a personal licence can be found in the Forms Section.Β  An applicant for a personal licence must hold a licensing qualification. Details of accredited qualifications can be found in the useful links section.

From 1st August the National Standard for Personal Licences changed. From then all qualifications that support the Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders will be titled "Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders at SCQF Level 6".

The effect of this is that any person who was awarded a certificate under the old regime i.e. prior to 31st July 2013 and who applies for a Personal Licence after 1st August 2013 would not be able to use that certificate to support their application.

However it has been decided that a 6 months transition period is appropriate and accordingly certificates issued prior to 31st July 2013 will continue to be accepted until Friday 31st January 2014. Thereafter applications supported by a certificate issued under the new National Standard will be accepted i.e one after 1st August 2013.
