  • Blinshall Street (Douglas Street to 50 metres south)

    closed from 27 November 2023 for 6 months for road safety concerns.

  • Douglas Street (Blinshall Street to Brown Street)

    temporary traffic lights until June 2024 for construction works.

  • Brown Street (south of Douglas Street)

    closed until May 2024 for construction works.

  • Seafield Road, Dundee

    closed from its westmost end (in cul-de-sac) extending for a distance of no more than 20 metres in an easterly direction to facilitate a site access for a new housing development.  Commencing Tuesday 22 August 2023 for 15 months.

  • Earl Grey Place West (South Crichton Street west for 50m)

    closed until March 2025 for facilitating construction works.

  • Castle Lane, Broughty Ferry (at its junction with Mill Street/Esplanade)

    closed until Saturday 13 April for road realignment works.

  • Harefield Road (at Kings Cross Road)

    temporary traffic lights for one week for Scotland Gas Network work.

  • Scottish and Southern Energy Network Constable Street Cable Renewal Scheme

    rolling road closures from Monday 15 January for 20 weeks:

     

    • Phase 4:  Arthurstone Terrace (Maitland Street to Albert Street) – lane closures for one week;

     

    • Phase 5:  Albert Street (Victoria Street to McGill Street) – closed northbound for 8 weeks; and

     

    • Whalers Close – closed for 2 weeks.
  • Brownhill Place (East of Liff Place to West of Brownhill Street)

    closed from Monday 18 March for 1 weeks for service connections for new housing site.

  • Commercial Street Phase 1B

    localised footpath closures from Monday 18 March for one week for footpath slabbing works.

  • Buttars Road

    temporary traffic lights between Buttars Loan and Buttars Terrace from Tuesday 27 February until Tuesday 23 April for service connections to a new housing development.

  • Old Liff Road

    ongoing temporary traffic lights until Friday 10 May 2024 for boundary wall repairs at Camperdown Park South.

  • Tay Road Bridge

    major roadworks commences on Monday 4 March for 6 months.  Southbound carriageway will be closed, and all traffic diverted onto the northbound carriageway in a contraflow traffic management system.  The walkway will remain open.  All loads above 2.6m will be restricted from using the crossing.  A 30mph speed limit will be in place.

  • A92 East Dock Street

    lane closures for 2 weeks for Scotland Gas Network work.

  • Nethergate (at Whitehall Street)

    lane width restriction and footway closure for one week for Scottish Water work.

  • Tulloch Crescent

    closed to pedestrians (road has no vehicular access) from Friday 8 March for 6 months for works associated with a new housing development.

  • Rose Lane

    closed to pedestrians (between Rosebank Road and Arthur Street) from Friday 8 March for 6 months for ongoing housing development works.

  • Lochee Road at Polepark Road

    temporary traffic lights from Monday 18March for one week for traffic signal refurbishment.

  • Dudhope Terrace

    closed between Lochee Road and Inverlaw Place from Monday 18March for 5 weeks for traffic signal refurbishment and junction modifications.  Local access will be maintained.

  • A92 Dock Street

    overnight (7.30pm to 6.30am) northbound lane closure on Monday 18 March for carriageway patching.

  • Clepington Road (at Forfar Road)

    overnight (8.00pm to 6.00am) temporary traffic lights on Tuesday 19 March for BT cabling work.

  • Cox Street (at Cox Gardens)

    temporary traffic lights from 9.00am on Wednesday 20 to 6.00am on Thursday 21 March for Scottish Water work.

  • Kellas Road

    temporary traffic lights on Wednesday 20 March for BT work.

  • Arbroath Road (at Kenilworth Avenue)

    closed from Monday 1 April for 2 weeks for road drainage works (in both directions) for the entire length of its South Leg only, from its junction with the A972 Arbroath Road for a distance of approximately 430 metres in a northerly direction.  The remaining sections of Tom Johnstone Road will remain open.

    off‑peak (9.30am to 3.30pm) temporary traffic lights from Monday 1 April for 5 days for Scottish and Southern Energy Network work.

  • Spey Drive (Charleston Drive to Deveron Terrace)

    closed from 8 April for 5 days for carriageway patching works.

  • Mary Ann Lane

    closed at north end from Monday 8 April for 15 weeks for redevelopment of car hire business.  Access/egree for residents of former DP&L Shipping building maintained from south end.

  • Kemnay Gardens (No 80 to Keith Place)

    closed Monday 8 April for Scottish and Southern Energy Network work.

  • Constitution Road (lower section north of Bell Street)

    closed for 18 months from Monday 18 March 2024 for redevelopment of multi‑storey car park and adjoining areas.

  • Logie Street (Ancrum Road to Loons Road)

    closed westbound from Monday 8 April for 3 days for BT work.

  • Gillburn Road at Kingspark Street

    4-way temporary traffic lights for junction improvement works and road drainage works commencing 2 April until 14 April.

    closed from Monday 15 April for 5 Days for Category 4 patching works.

    closed from Monday 15 April for 5 Days for Category 4 patching works.

    closed from Monday 22 April for 5 days for carriageway patching works.

    closed from Monday 22 April for 5 days for subsidence investigation works.

  • Drumsturdy Road (Kellas Road to 200 metres east)

    closed from Tuesday 23 April for 2 days (9.00am to 4.00pm) for tree cutting works.

  • Balgillo Road (Ballinard Road to Balgillo Road East)

    closed from Monday 29 April for 5 days for carriageway patching works.

  • Esplanade

    closed in phases from Tuesday 7 May for 10 days for carriageway patching works.

 


Roads - General

Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of maintenance work including resurfacing and reconstruction as well as water, sewer, electricity, gas and telecom supply/renewal/maintenance works, etc.

It may be that the Dundee City Council is not responsible for these works.  However we have a duty to inform the public of any major situation which may arise – planned or otherwise – that may affect their ability to move about the city.  We have included here a listing of road closures and major lane closures or restrictions and the contact numbers for the main utility companies in case you have a query on any specific set of roadworks.
