2025 Garden Waste Permits
16/01/25Dundee householders are being encouraged to renew their garden waste permits for 2025 following the opening of the ordering system.
Residents are urged to plan ahead to make sure they are signed up well in advance of the first collections scheduled to take place in March.
The cost of a permit is £47.50 per bin and covers the 20 collections allocated to eligible households across the year which works out at roughly £2.37 per collection.
Customers who opted into the scheme for 2024 will receive invitations either by letter or email to re-apply for 2025 collections. Reminders also feature on the 2025 collection calendars and on the Council’s website and social media channels.
Climate, Environment & Biodiversity Convener Councillor Heather Anderson said: “Garden waste collections are now well established in the city. We very much appreciate the many residents who support this scheme by purchasing their permit each year and hope they will do so again this year.
“The green waste collected contributes to the city’s overall recycling rates and residents who take part know their garden waste ends up producing good quality compost which in turn supports our community gardens and growers across the city.”
Members of the public can always dispose of their garden waste free of charge at either Baldovie or Riverside recycling centres.
The garden waste collected from residents is used to create PAS 100 quality-certified Discovery Compost at the Riverside Composting facility, which is then available for purchase by local gardeners, community groups, and farmers.
Home composting bins, with a 330-litre unit capacity, are available directly from the Council, or can be bought in many retail outlets.
Further information, frequently asked questions and the online permit application form can be found on the Dundee City Council website.
