At a MEETING of DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL held at Dundee on 16th October 2000.

I OBITUARY

The Lord Provost, Councillors Corrigan and Mackie referred to the death of the First Minister, Donald Dewar, MSP and paid tribute to the public service rendered by him. All members of the Council associated themselves with the comments made and thereafter, a minute's silence was observed.

III TOWN TWINNING

Reference was made to Article II of the minute of meeting of the Council of 11th October 1999 wherein it was agreed that a grant of 1,000 to promote town twinning be paid to each of the Associations in the City.

It was agreed that a similar grant in the current financial year 2000/2001 be paid to the Orleans, Wurzburg, Alexandria, Nablus and Charente Twinning Associations subject to certified accounts being submitted to the Director of Finance.

IV DUNDEE INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE LIMITED

Reference was made to Article VI of the minute of meeting of the Arts and Heritage Committee of 18th September 2000 wherein it was agreed to recommend that the Director of Arts and Heritage be appointed to serve on the above Trust.

The Council approved accordingly.

V DOVETAIL - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

It was reported that Councillors Rolfe and Powrie had resigned from the Board of Directors of Dovetail.

It was agreed to defer consideration of this matter meantime.

VI TWINNING VISIT - WURZBURG

It was reported for information that, in view of the timescales involved, the Director of Support Services, in consultation with the Depute Lord Provost, Councillor Fordyce and Councillor Wallace had authorised the Lord Provost and her husband, together with a Council Officer to attend a twinning event in Wurzburg during October 2000.

The Council noted accordingly.
