The Director of Arts and Recreation reported that following representation from a number of bodies including Dundee City Council, the Scottish Executive had commissioned the Scottish Arts Council (SAC) to conduct a feasibility study into the establishment of a National Theatre Company for Scotland and had identified resources for its implementation and commissioned the Scottish National Theatre Working Group to undertake the necessary research. In this context a consultation meeting had been arranged by COSLA on Monday, 26th February, 2001 and the Council had been invited to send a maximum of two representatives.

The Committee agreed to appoint the Convener and the Director of Arts and Recreation to attend the consultation meeting.
