I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II RETAINING RESERVED PLACES IN SCHOOLS FROM 2023/2024

 

On a reference to Article V of the minute of meeting of the Education Committee of 19th February, 2001, wherein approval was given to retain reserved places in certain schools to accommodate children moving into the catchment area during the school session, there was submitted Report No 78-2023 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service, reporting the requirement to review the allocation of reserved places on an annual basis and proposing the allocation for session 2023/2024.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to approve the proposals for the allocation of reserved places in schools for the school session 2023/2024 as outlined in Appendix 1 of the report; and

 

(ii) to note the existing criteria for admission to school (Extract from Placing Request Guidelines) as outlined in Appendix 2 of the report.

 

III PROGRESS - ACHIEVEMENT OF CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCE LEVELS 2021/2022

 

There was submitted Report No 79-2023 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service, providing information on the proportion of children and young people who had achieved the expected Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) levels in literacy and numeracy relevant to their stage in academic session 2021/2022.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note the content of the report and the improvements in outcomes for our children and young people;

 

(ii) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to report on the attainment and achievement of our children and young people with complex needs at the end of the academic session; and

 

(iii) to instruct the Executive Director of Children and Families Service to provide an update in 12 months regarding the progress in further improving the achievement of curriculum for excellence levels.
