II WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS

 

The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and invited them to introduce themselves.

 

III MINUTE OF MEETING OF DUNDEE LICENSING FORUM OF 29TH NOVEMBER, 2016

 

The minute of the above-mentioned meeting was submitted and approved.

 

IV MATTERS ARISING

 

There were no matters arising which were not covered elsewhere on the agenda.

 

V PRESS REPORTS

 

The Chair spoke to a number of press reports.

 

VI ALCOHOL FOCUS UPDATE

 

It was reported that a "My Family and Alcohol" website had been developed for family participation in helping families understand how alcohol consumption affects them.

 

The Scottish Government is making recommendations on how to reduce alcohol advertising and promotions. Recommendations put forward are similar to those in respect of cigarettes.

 

Alcohol Focus Scotland are developing workshops for community groups.

 

A study on alcohol impact on the economy indicated that increasing the price of alcohol would have no detrimental effect on the economy.

 

VII STAR AWARDS/DUNCAN SCHEME UPDATE

 

This item was deferred to the next meeting of the Forum.

 

VIII OVERPROVISION POLICY

 

The Licensing Board's Overprovision Policy was being reviewed at the present time.

 

IX NATIONAL LICENSING FORUM

 

The Forum agreed in principle that a National Licensing Forum would be a good idea and further agreed to collate members' responses allowing a collective response to be submitted by 31st March, 2017.

 

X MEMBERSHIP OF FORUM

 

The Chair intimated that he would be standing down and invited expressions of interest for the position of Chair. Individual members would be written to with regards to Forum membership.
