I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II NATIONAL IMPROVEMENT FRAMEWORK

 

There was submitted Report No 161-2016 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service providing the Committee with information on the new National Improvement Framework.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) noted the publication of the National Improvement Framework for Scottish Education by the Scottish Government;

 

(ii) noted the implications for educational establishments;

 

(iii) noted the timeline indicated by the Scottish Government for the phased implementation of the National Improvement Framework; and

 

(iv) instructed the Executive Director to report annually on the progress of implementation.

 

III ORGANISATION FOR ECONOMIC CO-OPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT (OECD) POLICY ON THE REVIEW OF CURRICULUM FOREXCELLENCE

 

There was submitted Report No 162-2016 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service informing the Committee of the recent report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Policy on the Review of the Curriculum for Excellence.

 

The Committee noted the key findings and recommendations in the OECD report.

 

IV SENIOR PHASE ATTAINMENT - LEAVERS DATA

 

There was submitted Report No 160-2016 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service informing the Committee of the attainment by senior school leavers in academic session 2014/2015.

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report.

 

V CLAYPOTTS CASTLE PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

This item had been placed on the agenda at the request of Councillors Laurie Bidwell and Lesley Brennan who asked the Committee to address concerns about the under capacity of Claypotts Castle Primary School to cope with the rising number of children living in the schools catchment area.

 

The Committee acknowledged the reported installation of temporary classrooms at Claypotts Castle Primary School to accommodate the rising school roll and instructed the Executive Director of Children and Families Services to consider whether an extension to the existing school is necessary as part of the next annual School Estate Review.
