I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

Bailie Borthwick declared a non-financial interest by virtue of a family member being a serving Police Officer.

 

II CONSULTATION ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LOCAL FIRE AND RESCUE PLAN 2014-2017

 

There was submitted Report No 22-2014 by Area Manager Stapley advising the Committee on the development of priorities and objectives for inclusion within the Dundee City Local Fire and Rescue Plan for the period 2014-2017, including details of the proposed consultation and engagement process.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) note the content of this report and provide feedback, as necessary, on the local consultation strategy; and

 

(ii) participate in the consultation process to develop the Local Fire and Rescue Plan to meet the needs of the communities of Dundee.

 

III SAFE ZONE DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN7-2014 seeking approval of a Community Safety Award of 3,000 to Tayside Council on Alcohol, as a contribution to the running costs for the Safe Zone Bus. The bus aimed to provide a modern and comprehensive place of safety that would meet the needs of any person whose wellbeing was threatened by the inability to get home safely due to alcohol misuse, emotional distress or any other risk of vulnerability. The service would be accessed at a central point in Dundee City Centre on Friday and Saturday nights. The cost of this award would be met in full through the Community Safety Partnership's Local Action Fund.

The Committee approved the award as detailed.

 

IV CITY OF DUNDEE LOCAL POLICING AREA PERFORMANCE RESULTS - 1ST APRIL, 2013 TO 30TH NOVEMBER, 2013

 

There was submitted Report No 24-2014 by Chief Superintendent Macpherson of Police Scotland providing members with local policing performance results for the quarter 1st April, 2013 to 30th November, 2013.

 

The Committee noted and scrutinised the content of the report.

 

V POLICE SCOTLAND - OPERATIONAL ISSUES REPORT (PART 1)

 

There was submitted Report No 25-2014 by Chief Inspectors Killop and Trickett of Police Scotland providing members with background operational information to the performance information.

 

The Committee noted and scrutinised the operational report.

 

VI POLICE SCOTLAND - LOCAL POLICING PLAN - CONSULTATION

 

LOCAL POLICING PLAN 2013/2014

 

There was submitted Report No 30-2014 by Chief Superintendent Macpherson of Police Scotland providing members with an update on the ongoing consultation to identify priorities and objectives for the Dundee Local Policing Plan 2014-2017.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) note the content of this report and provide feedback as appropriate; and

 

(ii) participate in the consultation process to assist in the identification of priorities and objectives for the Dundee Local Policing Plan 2014-2017.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 14 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

VII POLICE OPERATIONAL ISSUES (PART 2)

 

Chief Inspectors McKillop and Trickett gave a verbal update to members on operational issues.
