Cases Sub-committee - 13/06/2013

At a MEETING of the CASES SUB-COMMITTEE OF THE SOCIAL WORK AND HEALTH COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 13th June, 2013.

The Sub-Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 3 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

No declarations of interest was made.

 

II PURCHASE OF PLACEMENT WHICH EXCEEDS THE APPROVED NATIONAL CARE HOME RATE

 

There was submitted Report No 294-2013 by the Director of Social Work seeking approval of funding for services required to support one service user who was terminally ill, at a nursing home within Dundee.

 

The Sub-Committee agreed that a placement be funded for the service user on a permanent basis to manage their longer-term health needs.

 

III PURCHASE OF PLACEMENT WHICH EXCEEDS THE APPROVED NATIONAL CARE HOME RATE

 

There was submitted Report No 295-2013 by the Director of Social Work seeking approval of funding for one service user to be accommodated at an external specialist care unit due to levels of risk from behaviours which could no longer be managed at home.

 

The Sub-Committee agreed that a placement be funded on a long-term basis to facilitate the service user moving out of their family home as an interim measure until appropriate accommodation and support package could be sourced in Dundee.

 

IV REQUEST FOR RESIDENTIAL REHABILITATION PLACEMENT EXCEEDING AGREED LIMITS

 

There was submitted Report No 296-2013 by the Director of Social Work requesting authorisation for funding of a residential rehabilitation placement for one service user which exceeded authorised limits.

 

The Sub-Committee agreed to authorise funding of an external residential rehabilitation placement to enable the service user to access residential support that would give the best opportunity for the service user to achieve and maintain their well-being.
