II VIOLENCE AGAINST SHIPS CARRYING AID TO THE GAZA STRIP
It was reported that this item had been placed on the agenda at the request of the Lord Provost.
It was also reported that a request for a deputation to be heard had been received from Mr Ali El‑Awaisi and Mr Khalid El-Awaisi relative to the above.
The Council agreed to hear the deputation and after it had stated its case and answered questions, it was thanked for its attendance and withdrew.
The Council approved the undernoted resolution.
Dundee City Council adds its voice to the worldwide condemnation of the violence against the ships carrying aid to the people of the Gaza Strip and the calls for an international inquiry into the events.
Dundee City Council supports the view that an international solution is vital to try and solve the ongoing problems in the area and calls on the UK Government and Scottish Government to bring pressure to bear for renewed international efforts to find a lasting and peaceful solution leading to an end to the blockade.
Dundee City Council will distribute this motion to gain support from Councils across Scotland.
Lord Provost John R LETFORD, Convener.
