I CAIRD PARK STADIUM - REPLACEMENT HAMMER CAGE
There was submitted Agenda Note AN191-2009, whereby it was reported that in order to enhance the rating of the stadium to hold events, a replacement hammer cage was required to be supplied and installed. This would include the removal of the existing cage which did not meet the recognised standards of the UK Athletics. The new cage would be to the appropriate specification which would encourage more use of the facility.
Dundee City Council approached three specialist suppliers to have these works carried out: detailed below were the estimates obtained:-
Newff Athletic Equipment Ltd |
20,585
|
Pro Athletics Ltd |
18,485 |
Stadia Sports Supplies - did not quote.
The cost of these works could be met from the Quality of Life budget for 2009/2010.
The Committee approved the above works and awarded the replacement hammer cage to Pro Athletics.
II SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENTS WITH DUNDEE COLLEGE, CRAIGOWL COMMUNITIES AND CM ASSOCIATES 2008/2011 AND PROGRESS OF LITERACYSINITIATIVE
There was submitted Report No 441-2009 by the Director of Leisure and Communities, informing the Committee of the progress of the Literacy's Partnership in 2008/2009 and updating the Committee on the Service Level Agreements with Dundee College, Craigowl Communities and CM Associates for the period 2008/2009 as approved in Report No 123-2008.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) acknowledge and progress the key achievements of the Partnership during 2008/2009; and
(ii) approve that an annual payment for the period 2009/2010 of 39,000 be made by Dundee City Council to Dundee College, 32,000 to Craigowl Communities and 14,000 to CM Associates upon satisfactory provision of the service specifications. The caveat on this would be that the money would be released on a quarterly basis and if targets were not being achieved then the payments would be reviewed and adjusted accordingly.
