I PRIVATE KEVIN ELLIOTT
The Council observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect for Private Kevin Elliott.
II ADULT LEARNING WEEK
The Lord Provost intimated that adult learners from Dundee who had taken part in learning programmes provided by the Leisure and Communities Department were selected from applicants across Scotland to receive Scotland's Learning Partnership National Awards and were presented with them at a ceremony held in Glasgow on 8th September, 2009. Lyndi Robb received an individual award and the Helping Your Child Learning Group Angela Marlow, Emma Kelly and Lorraine Scrimgeour received a group award. The Council congratulated them on their achievements.

IV APPOINTMENT - DUNDEE ICE ARENA BOARD
The Council appointed Colin Bruce, Accounting Manager, Finance Department to the above Board in place of the Head of Finance.
V VALEDICTORY - ALEX STEPHEN
The Lord Provost, on behalf of the City Council, intimated that Alex Stephen, Chief Executive was retiring on 1st October, 2009 and thanked him for the services rendered by him in the former Dundee Corporation, Dundee District Council and in Dundee City Council. Other members of the Council also paid tribute.
