I H M INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION - KINGSPARK SCHOOL INSPECTION

There was submitted and noted report relative to the above.

II RETAINING RESERVED PLACES IN SCHOOLS

Reference was made to Article V of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 19th February, 2001, wherein approval was given to retain reserved places in certain schools to accommodate children moving into the catchment area during the school year.

There was submitted Report No 92-2009 by the Director of Education reviewing the reserved places and proposing an allocation for session 2009/2010.

The Committee approved the proposals to reserve places in schools for session 2009/2010 as set out in Appendix I of the report noted below:-

III CRAIGIE HIGH SCHOOL - FIRE DAMAGE REINSTATEMENT

There was submitted Report No 98-2009 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing offers received relative to the above.

The Committee:-

(i) agreed to accept the negotiated offer submitted by Dundee Contract Services in the amount of 215,000 and the allowances amounting to 36,389, giving a total cost of 251,389;

(ii) noted that Chief Officer approval had already been obtained for the acceptance of initial reinstatement works and for the purchase of laboratory furniture; and

(iii) further noted that additional expenditure of approximately 98,800 (including an allowance for professional services) was ordered immediately following the fire, and the work was carried out by McGill Electrical Ltd, Dundee.

IV KINGSPARK SCHOOL - POOL AIR HANDLING UNIT REPLACEMENT

There was submitted Agenda Note AN38-2009, whereby it was reported for information that due to timescales involved, the Director of Education and City Architectural Services Officer, in consultation with the Convener and Group spokespersons, approved a tender for the replacement of the pool air handling unit at Kingspark School.

The tender was awarded to Scotia Energy Saving Systems Ltd, Glenrothes, for 16,500, together with an allowance of 1,650 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 18,150.

The Committee noted accordingly.
