I TENDERS RECEIVED BY CITY ENGINEER
There was submitted Report No 604-2008 by the City Engineer giving details of offers received for the undernoted contracts:-

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by D Geddes (Contractors) Ltd, amounting to 13,152, together with the undernoted allowances:-

II DUNDEES BID TO HOST WORLD SCHOOLS DEBATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2011
There was submitted Report No 618-2008 by the Director of Economic Development informing the Committee that the City intended to bid to host the World Schools' Debating Championship 2011 (22nd August - 31st August inclusive).
The Committee agreed:-
(i) that the City assist in the bid with the Scottish International Debating Council for Dundee to host this event which would bring an estimated 976,000* to the local economy (*Dundee and Angus Convention Bureau conference and event multiplier); and
(ii) that the Economic Development Department allocated 5,000 from the 2010/2011 budget subject to the bid being successful and the availability of financial resources.
III TENDERS RECEIVED
There was submitted Report No 635-2008 by the City Architectural Services Officer giving details of offers received for the undernoted contract:-
(a) VARIOUS DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL PROPERTIES - SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE OF LIFTS AND HOISTS
The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated contract with Dundee Contract Services amounting to 848,998, together with an allowance of 85,000 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 933,998.
The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.
IV UNITS 5, 6 AND 7 SLESSOR COURT, DUNDEE
There was submitted Agenda Note AN225-2008 requesting approval of a rent review for the above premises. The Committee agreed the rent review on the terms and conditions detailed in the note.
V SITE AT FOWLER ROAD, WEST PITKERRO, DUNDEE
There was submitted Report No 625-2008 by the Director of Economic Development seeking approval for the sale of a 0.80 ha site at Fowler Road.
The Committee approved the sale on the terms and conditions detailed in the report.
