At a Special MEETING of the LICENSING COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 19th August, 2002.

I CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982 - RENEWAL OF LICENCE SUB-COMMITTEE

On a reference to Article II of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 25th June 1998 wherein it was agreed that consideration of applications for renewal of licence, where no objections were lodged, be delegated to the Director of Support Services to deal with.

There was submitted Agenda Note AN198-2002 seeking approval that all applications for renewal, other than those involving spent convictions or public objections be delegated to an ad hoc Sub‑Committee comprising any three members of the Licensing Committee of which the quorum would be three members. In an instance where Tayside Police had objected or made representations, the applicant would be given the opportunity of appearing before the Sub-Committee or alternatively making a written submission. The Sub-Committee would however retain the right to insist on a personal appearance or to defer the application to the Licensing Committee for consideration.

The Committee approved the establishment of a Renewal of Licence Sub-Committee of the Licensing Committee as outlined and that member representation be on the basis of one member from the Majority Group, one member from the Major Opposition Group and one member from the Minority Opposition Group.
