I DUNDEE COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP - ALLOCATION OF LOCAL ACTION FUND 2007/2008 (3)
There was submitted Report No 19-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities seeking approval for the allocation of grant awards from the Local Action Fund.

II VOLUNTEER CENTRE, DUNDEE GRANT AWARD
There was submitted Report No 1-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities seeking approval for the release of the annual grant award to the Volunteer Centre, Dundee.
The Committee approved the grant award of 10,005 to Volunteer Centre, Dundee.
III SUPPLY OF MOBILE CLIMBING WALL SPECIALIST TRAILER
There was submitted Report No 14-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities seeking approval to accept a tender for the supply of a Mobile Climbing Wall Specialist Trailer.
The Committee approved acceptance of the tender submitted by Modney Concepts Ltd, Modney Hall, Hilgay, Norfolk, PE38 OHN for the sum of 32,005, excluding VAT, on the basis of best design and construction to the desired specifications.
IV HIRE OF FRAME TENTS AND MARQUEES
There was submitted Agenda Note AN1-2008 advising the Committee that six companies were asked to tender for the three year contract from 2008/2010 inclusive, to supply frame tents and marquees for the Dundee Flower and Food Festival. Three companies returned completed tenders as follows:-
Purves Marquees, Edinburgh;
Field and Lawn Marquees, Broxburn; and
Allison Gray, Dundee.
The Committee agreed that the offer submitted by Field and Lawn Marquees, Broxburn be accepted being the lowest and most advantageous offer for the whole tender. The tender amount of 55,316, with a 3% annual increase over the life of the tender, could be met from the Dundee Flower and Food Festival account.
V TENDERS RECEIVED
The Convener, Lord Provost Letford, Bailie Wallace and Councillors Asif and Duncan declared a non-financial interest in this item by virtue of their Council appointments to Dundee Leisure.
There was submitted Report No 34-2008 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing the undernoted tender:-
(i) LYNCH CENTRE - CHANGING ROOMS UPGRADE
The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated tender by Dundee Contract Services amounting to 51,500, together with allowances of 500 for CDM Co-ordinator and 8,000 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 6,000.
VI CAMPERDOWN WILDLIFE CENTRE
There was submitted Report No 29-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities providing the Committee with an update on the actions taken following a break-in to the Camperdown Wildlife Centre in July 2007, and seeking approval for further initiatives relating to security and operation of the facility.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) note what had taken place since the break-in;
(ii) agree to delegate authority to officers to approve works up to the value of 40,000 to enable the perimeter security at Camperdown to be enhanced; and
(iii) approve the appointment of external consultants Zoo-Lutions Ltd on the advice of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) at a fee not exceeding 3,000, to undertake an audit of operational and management procedures and to make recommendations on any further action required.
VII SCOTTISH URBAN REGENERATION FORUM (SURF) ANNUAL CONFERENCE - 31ST JANUARY, 2008
There was submitted Agenda Note AN10-2008 advising the Committee that an invitation had been received for delegates to attend the above conference which Dundee was hosting. As a member of SURF, the fee would be 100 per delegate excluding travel and subsistence.
The Committee agreed that one member of the Administration, one member of the SNP Group and one member of the Conservative Group be authorised to attend the conference.
