I DUNDEE CITY SPORTS COUNCIL - APPLICATION FOR GRANT 2006/2007
The Convener and Councillors Duncan and Wallace declared a non-financial interest by virtue of their Council appointments.
Reference was made to Article II of the minute of meeting of the Leisure Services Committee of 16th December 1996, wherein approval was given to allow Dundee City Sports Council to administer the Grant Aid Scheme on behalf of Dundee City Council. There was submitted Agenda Note AN166-2006 requesting that 6,619 be allocated to Dundee City Sports Council for Grant Aid administration for the year 2006/2007 and a further 1,000 be allocated to Dundee City Sports Council from Dundee City Disability Sport for Grant Aid administration for the above year.
The Committee approved the above funding.
II DUNDEE MILITARY SHOW 2006
There was submitted Agenda Note AN167-2006 advising that a request had been received from the Armed Forces Careers Office to provide a Military Show at Camperdown Country Park on 3rd and 4th June, 2006.
The Committee approved the event and remitted to the Director of Economic Development to enter into a Lease Agreement. The Committee further noted that the rent would be subject to the necessary insurances being provided indemnifying the Council against damage to property, injury or loss of life etc, to members of the public and, in addition, to any services being provided by the Department being paid for by the applicant. It was also noted that a satisfactory risk assessment had been received and a pubic entertainment licence would be issued following the usual site inspection by officers.
III BAXTER PARK - CHARGES FOR MAIN PAVILION
There was submitted Agenda Note AN181-2006 requesting the Committee to approve the setting of charges for the refurbished Baxter Park Main Pavilion as undernoted:-

IV DUNDEE ICE ARENA - REVENUE SUPPORT 2006/2007
The Lord Provost, the Convener, Bailie Mackie and Councillor Duncan declared a non-financial interest by virtue of their Council appointments as Directors of Dundee Ice Arena. The Director of Leisure and Communities submitted Report No 297-2006 requesting renewal of revenue funding to Dundee Ice Arena for the year 2006/2007.
The Committee approved the level of revenue funding of 100,000 in 2006/2007 as set out in the report.
V BROUGHTY FERRY BEACH - PERSONAL WATERCRAFT CHANNEL
There was submitted Agenda Note AN182-2006 advising that, at the suggestion of Beautiful Scotland, it was proposed to demarcate the personal watercraft channel to the Tay Estuary in connection with the Blue Flag application for Broughty Ferry Beach which would allow better separation of powercraft and members of the public using the beach. The channel would be located immediately east of the Castle towards the Horseshoe Buoy as outlined in their Notice to Mariners and Dundee City Council would supply and lay the marker buoys, anchors and chains.
The Committee agreed to accept the offer of 9,610 from the local specialist supplier, Sea and Shore.
VI TENDERS RECEIVED
The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 303-2006 giving details of offers received for the provision of safety film to high level glazing at Lochee Leisure Centre.
The Committee agree to accept the lowest offer by Deans Group Ltd, Clydebank, amounting to 6,675 together with an allowance of 1,070 for professional services making a total expenditure of 7,745.
The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.
VII MOSCOW STATE CIRCUS, CAIRD PARK
There was submitted Agenda Note AN171-2006 advising that a request had been made from the European Entertainment Corporation Ltd, for the Moscow State Circus to hold performances at Caird Park from 7th to 13th August, 2006 and, after consultation with the Director of Leisure and Communities, the Director of Economic Development had reached provisional agreement on a rental for the site.
The Committee approved the terms and conditions of the let and remitted to the Director of Economic Development to issue a formal Missive of Let.
