The minute of meeting of this Committee of 17th April, 2006 was held as read.

Prior to the meeting, the Convener thanked all those who had made the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Dundee such a success, especially the Leisure and Communities Department staff.

 

I ADMINISTRATIVE GRANTS TO COMMUNITY COUNCILS AND NEIGHBOURHOOD REPRESENTATIVE STRUCTURES 2006/2007

 

Councillor Keenan declared a non-financial interest in the following item being the Council representative on the Ardler Village Trust.

 

There was submitted Report No 269-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities seeking approval for the payment of administrative grants for the financial year April 2006 to March 2007 to Community Councils and a Neighbourhood Representative Structure in existence or established during the year and to confirm the formulae for payment.

 

The Committee approved the following recommendations:

 

(a) that administrative grants be awarded to all Community Councils currently in existence or established during 2006/2006 in accordance with the Council's Revised Scheme for Operation of Community Councils (Appendix 1 of the Report refers).

 

(b) that administrative grants be also awarded to other Neighbourhood Representative Structures which meet the eligibility criteria (see Appendix 1 of the Report).

 

(c) that grants be awarded according to the following formulae: a lump sum of 330 per Community Council/Neighbourhood Representative Structure plus 1.2p per resident in each area (Appendices 1 and 2 of the Report refer).

 

(d) that an administration grant of 440 be awarded to the Dundee Civic Forum, the successor body to the Community Neighbourhood Representative Structures and the Association of Dundee Community Councils.

 

(e) that Community Councils or Neighbourhood Representative Structures established beyond 1st April 2006 be only eligible for a grant for the part of the year from their inception.

 

II NATIONAL ORGANISATIONS FUND 1 2006/2007

 

There was submitted Report No 273-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities making a recommendation for a grant award from the National Organisations Fund. The grant award would be met from the Department's Revenue Budget 2006/2007.

 

The Committee approved payment of the recommended grant of 200 to the Poverty Alliance.
