I DUNDEE COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP - ALLOCATION OF LOCAL ACTION FUND 2006/2007
Councillor Don declared a non-financial interest in this item by virtue of being a Trustee of the Hot Chocolate Trust.
There was submitted Report No 226-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities seeking approval for the allocation of grant awards from the Local Action Fund.
The Committee approved the allocation of grants as detailed in the Appendix to the report.
II GRANT AWARDS UP TO £500 - 2005/2006
There was submitted Report No 243-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities detailing awards up to the value of 500 that were made during the financial year 2005/2006. Twenty four grant awards totalling 9,888 had been met from the Department's Revenue Budget 2005/2006.
The Committee noted the payments as detailed.
III TOP PRIZE FOR PEER EDUCATION PROJECT
There was submitted Agenda Note AN137-2006 advising that the Peer Education Project had been awarded top prize by the Scottish Executive Support for Learning Division under their category of "Stop Bullying". These awards were assessed by a judging panel which looked at submissions from across Scotland.
The Group that prepared the submission had involved nine S1 pupils and two S3 peer educators from Lawside Academy who had been working with the Peer Education Project since August 2005. The theme of the project was "One Step Closer" and it had focussed on supporting young people making their transition from primary to secondary school. The young people were to be awarded 500 by the Scottish Executive to plan "a celebration event or outing for themselves". All of those involved within initiatives would also receive certificates.
The Committee congratulated those involved.
IV INTERNATIONAL YOUTH WORK FUND 1 - 2006/2007
There was submitted Report No 259-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities making a recommendation for the grant award from the International Youth Work Fund. The grant award would be met from the Department's Revenue Budget 2006/2007.
The Committee approved payment of the recommended grant of 1,000 to Dundee Civic Forum.
CHRIS HIND, Convener.
