I TRADING STANDARDS - MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

There was submitted Report No 351-2004 by the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards seeking approval to pursue an agreement with the neighbouring Councils of Perth and Kinross and Angus, to enhance the existing co-operation between the Trading Standards Services operated by the three authorities.

The Committee agreed:-

(i)that the introduction of a Memorandum of Understanding as an agreement between the respective trading standard services of Dundee, Perth and Kinross and Angus Councils to enhance the existing co-operation between the three services be approved;  and

(ii)that the agreement be binding in honour only and would not be a legally binding agreement.

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that this would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 3, 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A to the above Act.

II CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982 - SECTION 87(1) - BUILDINGS IN NEED OFREPAIR

There was submitted Agenda Note AN212-2004 reporting that notices had been served on the owners of various properties requiring works to be carried out.

The Committee agreed that the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards be authorised to carry out the works should the owners not comply within the time allowed in the notices.

Julia M STURROCK, Convener.
