II JOAN OF ARC CELEBRATIONS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN136-2004 intimating that an invitation had been received from the Mayor of Orleans for the City Council to be represented at the Joan of Arc Celebrations during May 2004.

 

The Council agreed that the Lord Provost, his wife, one representative from the opposition groups and the Council Officer be authorised to attend.

III WURZBURG ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN137-2004 intimating that an invitation had been received from the City of Wurzburg for the City Council to be represented at celebrations in Wurzburg from 29th April to 2nd May, 2004 to mark the 40th Anniversary of Wurzburg's twinning links with Rochester, USA and the 25th Anniversary of Wurzburg's twinning links with Otsu, Japan.

 

The Council agreed that the Lord Provost, his wife and the Council Officer be authorised to attend.

 

IV PRISON VISITING COMMITTEES

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN138-2004.

 

(a) PERTH PRISON VISITING COMMITTEE

 

It was reported that Bailie Wright and Councillor Dick required to be replaced on the Perth Prison Visiting Committee and, in addition, Father O'Farrell and Mr Graham Fraser had resigned as non-elected members.

 

The Council agreed that the vacancies be filled by Bailie Neil IC Powrie, Rev James Milne, Mr Richard McCready and Mrs Jean Forbes.

 

(b) NORANSIDE PRISON VISITING COMMITTEE

 

It was reported that Bailie Wright required to be replaced on the Noranside Prison Visiting Committee.

 

The Council agreed that Mr George de Gernier be appointed.

 

V EUROPEAN ELECTIONS - POLLING PLACE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN177-2004 intimating that the Marryat Hall was a designated polling place for electors in the City Centre. However, due to a major conference, the hall was not available for the European Elections on 10th June, 2004.

 

The Committee agreed to designate the main reception at 18 City Square as a polling place for those electors for that election only.

 

In addition, it was agreed that it be remitted to the Chief Executive in consultation with all other groups to authorise any substitute polling place required in the event of any existing polling place becoming unavailable.
