I SUPPORT SERVICES - ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & TRADING STANDARDS - CORPORATE FOOD SAFETY

There was submitted Joint Report No 91-2004 by Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards and Assistant Chief Executive (Management) seeking the Committee's approval to establish posts to undertake work in connection with Corporate Food Safety.

The Committee agreed to:-

(i) the establishment of a post of Corporate Food Safety Adviser, graded PO8-11, 30,060 - 32,244;

(ii) the deletion of a post of Environmental Health Officer, graded AP5-PO6, 24,396 - 28,578;

(iii) the establishment of a post of Environmental Health Officer (Corporate Food Safety), graded AP5-PO6, 22,398 - 28,578;

(iv) liaison officers being nominated within each department that had an input to food provision, in order to facilitate effective action in relation to Corporate Food Safety Reports;

II LEASED CAR MILEAGE RATES

There was submitted Agenda Note AN68-2004 advising the Committee that the trade unions had recently requested a further review of leased car mileage rates.

The Committee approved the adoption by the Council of the Inland Revenue advisory fuel mileage rates as detailed below with effect from 1st January, 2004 and, in order to avoid the recurring pattern of trade union requests to review and catch up on price increases, it was further agreed that the rates in force each 1st April be applied for the whole of that financial year, having noted that the cost of implementing this recommendation would be approximately 7,000 in a full financial year and would be contained within departments' existing revenue budgets.
