I PURCHASE OF SHREDDER PARTS

 

There was submitted Report No 149-2004 by the Head of Waste Management seeking authority to purchase a replacement set of cutters for a shredding plant at the Baldovie Waste Recycling Plant within the Waste Management Department.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer from Ulster Shredders Limited, Ballyclare amounting to 13,648.22 as they were the specialist supplier.

 

II PURCHASE OF COLLECTION VEHICLES FOR RECYCLATES

 

There was submitted Report No 148-2004 by the Head of Waste Management giving details of offers received for the undernoted vehicles:-

 

(a) Kerbside Collection Vehicle

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer by Terberg Matec UK Limited amounting to 101,590.00 for the purchase of a kerbside collection vehicle.

 

(b) Compost Recycling Vehicle

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer by Faun Municipal Vehicles Limited for the purchase of a compost recycling vehicle.

 

III CORPORATE FOOD SAFETY

 

There was submitted Joint Report No 91-2004 by the Assistant Chief Executive (Management) and the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards seeking approval to establish posts to undertake work in connection with Corporate Food Safety.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to note the establishment of a Corporate Food Safety working group which would act as a forum for food safety and food standard matters within Dundee City Council;

 

(ii) to note that a food hygiene training policy would be produced based on advice contained in the Industry Guide to Good Hygiene Practice Catering Guide ISBN 0900103;

 

(iii) to note that the profile of Dundee City Council Corporate Infection Control Policies and Procedures document would be raised which would relate in part to food safety and the prevention of food poisoning and that the possibility of providing access to the document via the Council Intranet would be explored; and

 

(iv) that the remaining recommendations with regard to staffing implications be referred to the Personnel Committee.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that this would involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 3, 6 and 9 of Part 1 of Schedule 7(A) to the above Act.

 

IV CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982 SECTION 87(1) BUILDINGS IN NEED OF REPAIR

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN77-2004 reporting that notices had been served on the owners of properties requiring works to be carried out.

 

The Committee agreed that the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards be authorised to carry out the works should the owners not comply within the time allowed in the notices.
