I ST KILDA ROAD AND TAITS LANE - LANDSCAPING OF CLOSED CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUNDS

There was submitted Agenda Note AN532-2003 informing the Committee that due to the closure of a number of children's playgrounds in the city through the Council's rationalisation of playgrounds, the undernoted sites required to be landscaped to remove hard surfaces and mounding to create a more suitable and usable open space.

(a) ST KILDA ROAD

The removal of fencing and the tarmac area, followed by soiling and grassing to create an improved amenity area. The estimated cost of the work was 4,800.

(b) TAITS LANE

The breaking up of the formation level to alleviate compaction, the supply and spread of top soil followed by cultivation and seeding with grass. The estimated cost of this work is 3,765.

The total estimated cost for both sites was 8,565 which could be met from the provision of 50,000 in Dundee Contract Services 2003/04 Capital Budget for Public Open Space Improvements.

The Committee agreed that these works be carried out by Dundee Contract Services, Parks Section at an estimated cost of 8,565.
