I HM INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION - INSPECTION OF STANDARDS AND QUALITY IN SS PETER ANDPAUL RC PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

There was submitted and noted HM Inspectorate of Education Standards and Quality Report on SS Peter and Paul's RC Primary School.

 

II HM INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION - FOLLOW-UP TO THE INSPECTION OF ST NINIAN'S RCPRIMARY SCHOOL AND NURSERY CLASS

 

There was submitted and noted the follow-up report of HM Inspectorate of Education on St Ninian's RC Primary School and Nursery Class.

 

III TENDERS RECEIVED - CITY ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES OFFICER

 

There was submitted Report No 445-2003 by the City Architectural Services Officer requesting a decision thereon:-

 

(i) MILL 'O MAINS PRIMARY SCHOOL - RELOCATION OF FOOTPATH

 

The Committee agreed to accept the schedule of rates offer from Dundee Contract Services for the relocation of a footpath at Mill 'O Mains Primary School for 7,730, together with allowances of 1,160, giving a total of 8,890.

 

(ii) MENZIESHILL NURSERY SCHOOL - OVERLAY ROOF COVERING

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer from Dundee Contract Services for overlay roof covering at Menzieshill Nursery School for 33,813.39, together with allowances of 5,460, giving a total of 39,273.39.

 

IV BLACKNESS PRIMARY SCHOOL AND BELLFIELD NURSERY SCHOOL - BOILER REPLACEMENT (PARTNERING)

 

There was submitted Report No 446-2003 by the Director of Education and City Architectural Services Officer seeking approval for boiler replacements at two schools.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i)boiler replacements at Blackness Primary School and Bellfield Nursery School at an estimated cost of 130,000 inclusive of professional fees; and

 

(ii)authorise the City Architectural Services Officer to negotiate contracts within the overall allowance under a partnering arrangement with appropriate contractors and the Director of Support Services, in conjunction with the Director of Education, to accept the offers recommended by the City Architectural Services Officer.

 

V DUNDEE SCHOOLS PPP PROJECT - OUTCOME OF THE FORMAL CONSULTATION PROCESS IN RESPECT OFTHE REVISED PROJECT PROPOSAL WITH ASSOCIATED CATCHMENT AREA CHANGES RELATING TO

 

There was submitted Report No 285-2003 by the Director of Education detailing representations made during the formal publication and consultation exercise on the above project proposal and recommendations for taking it forward.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i)approve the inclusion of a new two stream Downfield Primary School and Kirkton Nursery in the PPP Project on the site of the current St Columba's Primary School at Kirkton Road;

 

(ii)the formation of the new catchment area combining the existing Downfield catchment area with part of the Macalpine catchment area;

 

(iii)instruct the Director of Education to seek the consent of Scottish Ministers to the new school in accordance with statutory procedures; and

 

(iv)approve the inclusion of a new two stream primary school to replace Macalpine Primary School and Brackens Primary School on the Brackens site.

 

VI DUNDEE SCHOOLS PPP PROJECT - OUTCOME OF THE FORMAL CONSULTATION PROCESS IN RESPECT OFTHE PROPOSAL TO MERGE LAWSIDE RC ACADEMY AND ST SAVIOUR'S RC HIGH SCHOOL IN A

 

There was submitted Report No 449-2003 by the Director of Education detailing representations made during the formal publication and consultation exercise on the above project proposal and recommendation on the way forward.

 

The Committee agreed to approve the project proposal to merge Lawside RC Academy and St Saviour's RC High School in a new build secondary school on the Kirkton Park site and to extend and refurbish St John's RC High School.
