I STRUCTURE AND DELIVERY OF LOCAL HOUSING STRATEGIES

 

The Director of Housing submitted Report No 693-2002 outlining the context of the new housing planning system and setting out a plan of action which the Housing Department would implement to ensure that relevant stakeholders were involved and a strategic measurable plan was produced.

 

The Committee:-

 

(a) Agreed that the Director of Housing contribute to and bring forward the development of a group of Tayside Authorities to liaise on inter-authority issues as detailed in paragraphs 6.11 and 6.12 of the report.

 

(b) Approved arrangements for preparing the local housing strategy and the proposed work plan at appendix I of the report.

 

(c) Noted that the cheques and balances identified in Appendix II of the report.

 

II DEMOLITION OF 37 ST COLUMBA GARDENS

 

The Director of Housing submitted Report No 719-2002 recommending the demolition of the above properties.

 

The Committee approved the demolition of 37 St Columba Gardens and remitted to the City Engineer to prepare tenders and seek offers for demolition and post demolition treatment at the appropriate time.

 

III OFFICER'S APPROVAL - DEMOLITION OF LOCK-UP GARAGES - VARIOUS LOCATIONS

 

Report No 711-2002 by the City Engineer was submitted for the information of the Committee and it was noted that the lowest offer by Trojan Contracting and DIY Limited amounting to 20,600 to carry out the above demolition had been accepted together with allowances of 24,925 making a total expenditure of 45,525, following consultation with the Convener and appropriate spokespersons of the Opposition Groups.

 

IV HOUSING REVENUES - NAME CHANGE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN257-2002 advising the Committee that the Section currently known as 'Housing Revenues' be changed to 'Housing Rent Accounts' to avoid confusion with the Revenues Section of the Finance Department.

 

The Committee approved the change of name.

 

V TENDERS RECEIVED

 

(a) Report No 729-2002 by City Architectural Services Officer

 

(i) Craigie Drive 2nd Development Cottages - Heating Installation and Electrical Upgrading

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by McGill Electrical Limited amounting to 47,771.62 to which require to be added the undernoted allowances:-

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by McGill Electrical Limited amounting to 54,471.53 to which require to be added the undernoted allowances:-

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Rentokil Hygiene, East Kilbride, amounting to 30,768.75 to which require to be added an allowance of 2,462.00 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 33,230.75.

 

(b) Report No 738-2002 by the City Engineer

 

(i) 5-10 Balerno Place - Demolition

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Safedem Limited amounting to 63,228.00 to which require to be added the undernoted allowances:-
