The Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection reported that notices had been served on the owners of the undernoted properties requiring works to be carried out.

III NATIONAL ASSISTANCE ACT 1948 BURIAL OR CREMATION OF DECEASED PERSONS
It was reported that tenders had been received for the Burial and/or Cremation of Destitute Dead Persons for the period 1st April, 2002 to 31st March, 2005.
The Committee agreed to accept the offer from Messrs R Sturrock & Sons, Dundee amounting to 271.95 for Burial and 586.95 for Cremation.
IV SCOTTISH MOTOR VEHICLE TESTING UNIT ANNUAL REPORT
There was submitted Report No 213-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection on the annual report for the operation of the Scottish Motor Vehicle Testing Unit, operated by Dundee City Council as lead authority for the year to 31st January, 2002.
The Committee noted the contents of the annual report.
V DRAFT TAYSIDE AREA WASTE PLAN
There was submitted Joint Report No 189-2002 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection and Director of Planning and Transportation outlining the provisions of the draft Area Waste Plan for Tayside and seeking approval for the publication of the draft Plan for consultation purposes.
The Committee:-
(a) agreed the terms of the draft Area Waste Plan for consultation purposes;
(b) agreed that the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection and Director of Planning and Transportation be remitted to report the Finalised Area Waste Plan to the respective committees for joint approval in due course.
VI CONFERENCE - RECYCLED PLASTICS
It was reported that a one-day conference on Recycled Plastics would take place at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton on 11th April, 2002. The Conference would be free of charge excluding travel and subsistence allowances.
The Committee approved the attendance of the Convener and the spokesperson of the majority opposition group and the spokesperson of the minority opposition group.
