I ENERGY ACTION SCOTLAND (EAS) MEMBERSHIP 2000/2001

 

The Committee authorised the Director of Housing to continue membership of Energy Action Scotland at a cost of 120 per annum to be funded from the Housing Revenue Account.

 

II PROPOSAL TO INSTALL SMART TECHNOLOGY IN A VACANT COUNCIL PROPERTY

 

The Director of Housing submitted Report No 341-2000 advising the Committee of a proposal to install smart technology as a trial in vacant council property.

 

The Committee agreed that a currently vacant property at Brington Place Very Sheltered Development be given to the project rent free for a one year period and that the installation of electronic assistive technology be arranged by Robert Gordon University.

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by D Campbell & Co Ltd, Glasgow, amounting to 175,811.15 to which required to be added the undernoted allowances making a total expenditure of 240,711.15:-

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by CFM Building Services Ltd, Carluke, amounting to 417,360 to which required to be added the undernoted allowances making a total expenditure of 575,700:-

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services amounting to 135,810.22 to which required to be added allowances for professional fees of 6,835 making a total expenditure of 142,645.22.

 

(v) Camperdown 14th Development - Window Replacement

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services amounting to 178.666.75 to which required to be added allowances of 7,450 for professional services making a total expenditure of 186,116.75.

 

(vi) Douglas & Angus 11th & 13th Developments - Window Replacement

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services amounting to 109,820.80 to which required to be added an allowance for professional services of 6,250 making a total expenditure of 116,070.80.

 

(vii) Mid Craigie 4th Development (Cottages) - Heating Installation and Electrical Upgrading

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer with Dundee Contract Services amounting to 288,349.42 to which required to be added the undernoted allowances making a total of 366,774.42:-

IV ELECTRICAL SERVICES TO HOUSES

 

The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 325-2000 seeking approval to appoint Scottish & Southern Energy PLC as a specified installer for the electrical services to houses requiring an electrical supply for the heating installation in the programme for 2000/2001 up to a maximum cost of 165,000.

 

The Committee approved the appointment.

V HOUSING (SCOTLAND) ACT 1987 - IMPROVEMENT, REPAIRS AND ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS, HOME LOANS ETC

 

Reference was made to the minute of meeting of the Housing Committee of 15th November 1999 when grant expenditure under the Housing (Non-HRA) Budget was agreed.

VI CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF HOUSING - INNOVATION IN SOCIAL HOUSING VIDEO LAUNCH

 

Following Dundee's success in gaining the CIOH National Award for innovation in social housing last year for the City Council's Property Shop initiative it was reported that the Convener of Housing and the Manager of the shop had participated in the filming of a video which highlighted what the institute considered best practice in the marketing of social housing in the UK.

 

The Committee approved the attendance of the Convener at the Conference in Harrogate during the launch of the video on 14th/15th June, 2000.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during discussion of the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

 

VII LEASE OF 61 REFORM STREET

 

The Director of Housing submitted Report No 334-2000 advising members of the proposed lease of the above property for use as office premises from 1st April 2000 to 31st March 2003 on the terms and conditions stated in the report.

 

The Committee approved accordingly.
