I ENERGY ACTION SCOTLAND - ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP
The Committee authorised the Director of Housing to continue membership of Energy Action Scotland at a cost of 120 per year funded from the Housing Revenue Account.
II HOUSING (SCOTLAND) ACT 1987, SECTION 108 REPAIRS NOTICE - WATSON STREET/WELLGATE DEVELOPMENTS
On a reference to Article IV of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 19th March 2001 the Director of Housing submitted Report No 306-2001 seeking approval for the service of a Repairs Notice on the properties in the Watson Street/Wellgate Developments listed in the appendix to the report.
The Committee,
(a)approved the service of a Repairs Notice in terms of Section 108 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 with a time limit of, as nearly as may be, 28 days for compliance with the terms of the Notice.
(b)agreed that should owners fail to comply with the terms of the Notice, the Council should instruct the work to be carried out in default and that the Director of Housing, in conjunction with the relevant departments, should be authorised to appoint Consultants to provide the necessary professional services and carry out the necessary repairs work and,
(c)agreed that should default action be implemented, the appropriate officers be instructed to authorise and arrange payments to the appointed Consultant(s) and Contractor.
III PROVISION OF HOUSING ACCOMMODATION - SCOTTISH ISLAMIC AND CULTURAL CENTRE, 5/7 DURA STREET
The Director of Housing reported that she had received a request from the Scottish Islamic and Cultural Centre to have a property allocated to them to enable their Imam and his family to live reasonably close to their mosque in Dura Street.
The Committee approved the request and instructed the Director of Housing to offer a four apartment property for rent to the Scottish Islamic and Cultural Centre.
IV TENDERS RECEIVED
The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 298-2001 giving details of offers received for the undernoted contracts:-
(a) 40 NETHERGATE AND 2 UNION STREET - REPAIRS NOTICE IN DEFAULT
The Committee agreed to accept the offer negotiated with Nortel Builders, who had previously submitted a tender to a private Architect appointed by the owners, amounting to 114,726.59 to which required to be added an allowance of 12,000 for professional services making a total expenditure of 126,726.59.
The Committee also noted that the undernoted Sub-Contractors had been listed by Nortel Builders.

(b) CRESCENT LANE DEVELOPMENT - WINDOW REPLACEMENT
The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer by Dundee Contract Services amounting to 50,877.46 to which required to be added an allowance of 4,635 for professional services making a total expenditure of 55,512.46.
V CAMPERDOWN 7TH DEVELOPMENT - PITCHED ROOF REPAIRS - EXTENSION TO CONTRACT
On a reference to Article VII(x) of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 18th December 2000 the City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 252-2001 requesting approval to extend the existing contract by Andrew Shepherd & Sons Limited, Forfar.
The Committee approved extension of the existing contract and authorised additional expenditure of approximately 45,000.
VI CRAIGIEBANK 2ND DEVELOPMENTS - PITCHED ROOF REPAIRS
On a reference to Article VII(vii) of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 8th December 2000 the City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 282-2001 requesting approval to extend the existing contracts.
The Committee agreed to the extension of the existing contract and authorised additional expenditure of approximately 24,000.
VII HOUSING (SCOTLAND) ACT 1987 - IMPROVEMENT, REPAIRS AND ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS, HOME LOANS ETC
Reference was made to the minute of meeting of the Housing Committee of 15th November 1999 when grant expenditure under the Housing (non-HRA) Budget was agreed.
It was agreed that the grants approved during April 2001 in each of the categories were as follows:-

VIII TENANTS' INFORMATION SERVICE - ANNUAL CONFERENCE - 23RD TO 24TH JUNE 2001 - DUNDEE
The Committee authorised the Housing Department to send up to five tenant representative to the above conference at a cost per delegate of 170 plus travelling expenses together with any interested elected member on a day basis.
The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act, 1973 that the public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.
IX CITY COUNCIL REPURCHASE - MAISONETTE, 4 SMALL COPPER COURT, WHITFIELD
On a reference to Article IV of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 19th February 2001 the Director of Economic Development recommended approval of the provisional terms which had been agreed to reacquire the above property.
The Committee formally approved.
