The minute of meeting of this Committee of the Licensing Board of 18th January 2001 was held as read.
Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.
I APPLICATION FOR THE RENEWAL OF LICENCE
Reference was made to Article II(a)(3) of the minute of meeting of the Licensing Board of 20th January, 2000 wherein an application for the renewal of a Public House Licence by Bass Taverns Limited (Glasgow) for the premises at 108 Whitfield Drive was refused.
The Board was advised that after hearing an appeal the Sheriff had remitted the application back to the Board for consideration.
Thereafter, the Board gave further consideration to the application and granted the application subject to a satisfactory inspection being carried out prior to the premises opening.
II SECTION 32 HEARINGS
(a) LORRAINE ROBERTS, MURPHY'S, 195 HILLTOWN
After hearing a report from the Environmental & Consumer Protection Department and having heard an agent on behalf of the applicant, the Board agreed that no action be taken.
At this point, Councillor Shimi vacated the Chair in favour of Councillor Rolfe.
(b)EPIC GROUP (SCOTLAND) LIMITED, THE PARAMOUNT CLUB, 3 SESSION STREET
Reference was made to Article II of the minute of meeting of the Licensing Board of 22nd March, 2001 wherein it was agreed that a Section 32 Hearing be convened in respect of the above premises.
After hearing a report from the Environmental & Consumer Protection Department the Board agreed that a closure order be made.

In the case of application No. 1 by Belhaven Brewery Company Ltd in respect of 142/148 Perth Road, the Board agreed that the application be granted subject to a Section 31 Hearing.
In the case of application No. 3 by Lorraine Roberts in respect of 195 Hilltown, the Board, having heard an objection by the Chief Constable, agreed that the applications for renewal and regular extension be refused.
In the case of application No. 5 by James H Symons in respect of 1A Rattray Street, the Board, after giving some consideration to a letter by the Chief Constable and after hearing the applicant, agreed to grant the application.
There being no objections to the remaining applications the Board granted licences.
