II SCOTTISH CIVIC FORUM

It was reported that Councillor de Gernier had been appointed by the Scottish Local Government Information Unit to serve on the Scottish Civic Forum and it was recommended that attendance at meetings be considered an approved duty.

The Council approved accordingly.

III JOHNSON SPACE CENTRE - LAUNCH OF SPACE SHUTTLE DISCOVERY

It was reported for information that in view of the timescales involved the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Majority Group, the Leader of the Major Opposition Group and the Leader of the Minority Group, authorised the Lord Provost, her husband and a Council Officer to accept an invitation to visit the Johnson Space Centre, Houston, Texas, during March 2001 for the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery.

The Council noted accordingly.

IV PARLIAMENTARY POLLING DISTRICTS AND POLLING PLACES

There was submitted Report No 113-2001 by the Chief Executive outlining the findings of a recent review of polling districts and polling stations as required from time to time by the Representation of the People Act 1983.

The Council (i) approved the amendments to the boundaries of Polling Districts WBE and WBR, (ii) agreed that the premises listed in the appendix to the report be designated as polling places for the polling districts listed, and (iii) agreed that the changes take effect from 19th March 2001.

In addition, the Council agreed that Whitfield Activity Complex be designated the polling place for electors in Polling District EAD.
