I DISABILITY AWARENESS
Following a presentation by Mary Anderson and colleagues from the McKinnon Centre on disability awareness, the Committee agreed that it be recommended to the Licensing Committee that all new applicants for taxi driver's licences be required to undergo a disability awareness training course prior to being granted a licence.
It was further agreed that all existing taxi drivers also be required to undertake the course on a phased basis.
II ONGOING REVIEW OF LICENCE CONDITIONS
(a) TAXI DRIVER'S CONDITIONS
(b) TAXI LICENCE CONDITIONS
The Committee discussed proposed amendments to the various conditions which had been the subject of prior consultation.
After discussion, it was agreed that these conditions be re-submitted with agreed amendments to the next meeting of the Liaison Committee.
III TAXI TESTING
Reference was made to the minute of meeting of the Licensing Committee of 29th June 2000, wherein it was agreed that additional testing be introduced for taxis aged over five years.
Following discussion, it was agreed that a sub-group to be chaired by the Transportation Manager, meet to discuss the implementation of the additional testing.
IV SOILING OF TAXIS
The Committee noted that a reply on this subject was still awaited from the Procurator Fiscal.
V TRANSFER OF LICENCES
Reference was made to a letter which had been submitted by Dundee Taxi Owners' Association relative to the above.
It was agreed that as the letter had only been recently received, it be remitted to the appropriate Officer to respond direct to the Association on the points raised.
