I CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982 - SECTION 87(1) - BUILDINGS IN NEED OF REPAIR

 

The Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection reported that notices had been served on the owners of the undernoted property requiring works to be carried out.

The Committee authorised the Director to carry out the works should the owners not comply within the time allowed in the notices

 

II THE FOOD STANDARDS JOINT AUDIT BOARD FOR SCOTLAND

 

There was submitted Report No. 100-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection detailing the proposed arrangements to satisfy the requirement for the Council to have an audit scheme covering food standard enforcement activities.

 

The Committee agreed to participate in the proposed Food Standards Joint Audit Board Scotland and agreed the composition of the proposed board as detailed in Appendix I to the report.

 

III MEMBER INVOLVEMENT IN THE TAYSIDE AREA WASTE STRATEGY

 

There was submitted Report No. 103-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection detailing proposals for the Council's participation in the Tayside Area Waste Strategy.

 

The Committee agreed to participate in a Member/Officer group to oversee the development of area waste plans and nominated the Conveners of the Environmental and Consumer Protection and Planning and Transportation Committees to participate in the group on behalf of the City Council.

 

IV PURCHASE OF WHEELED BINS

 

There was submitted Report No. 102-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection detailing offers received in respect of wheeled bins for a one year period.

 

The Committee agreed that:-

 

(i)the offer from SSI Schaeffer for the supply of grey domestic bins (all sizes) and blue paper bins (all sizes) be accepted;

 

(ii)The offer from OTTO for the supply of brown compost bins (all sizes) be accepted; and;

 

(iii)the offer from Egbert Taylor for the supply of Euro Bins (all sizes) be accepted.

 

V REPLACEMENT OF ANIMAL AND PEST CONTROL VANS

 

There was submitted Report No. 101-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection detailing offers in respect of the lease of four vans used within the Animal and Pest Control Section.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer from G Mutch Mechanical Services, Dundee on the terms and conditions detailed in the report.

 

VI BALDOVIE INCINERATOR (OLD PLANT) - MINOR ROADWORKS

 

The Committee approved acceptance of an offer of 19,493 from Tayside Contracts together with professional fees of 2,507, giving an estimated overall expenditure of 22,000 in respect of repairs to the existing roads within the grounds of the former Baldovie Incinerator plant at Forties Road, Dundee.
