The minute of meeting of this Committee of 17th April 2000 was held as read.

I PROPOSED CLOSURE OF DUDHOPE GARDENS HOSTEL, DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Joint Report No 245-2000 by the Director of Social Work and Director of Personnel and Management Services advising the Committee of progress towards closure of Dudhope Gardens Hostel.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i)note and approve the contents of the report;

 

(ii)instruct the Director of Social Work to make arrangements for the relocation of the residents and proceed with the closure of the Hostel;

 

(iii)approve the accommodation and care arrangements confirmed by the Director of Social Work for the residents of the Hostel; and

 

(iv)instruct the Director of Social Work to advise the Director of Economic Development to negotiate the disposal of 6 Rankine Street, Dundee, to Gowrie Housing Association, subject to lease back to the Social Work Department.

 

II AUTHORISATION LIMIT FOR THE PURCHASE OF DOMICILIARY CARE

 

The Committee agreed to increase the limit for the purchase of domiciliary care services from external providers from 336 to 346 per week.

 

In addition, the Committee authorised the Director of Social Work, following consultation with the Convener, to make payment of up to 550 per week for periods of up to four weeks in respect of unexpected increased or very urgent intensive care, when care cannot be met from within the current home care service.

 

It was noted that should a higher level of support be required, the case would be remitted to the Cases & Registration Sub-Committee for consideration.
