This service supports children and young people who have disengaged from full-time mainstream education. One of the main aims of the service along with partner agencies, is to provide support to maintain children and young people within their community.
The service includes the following provision which can only be accessed through referral by the mainstream school:
Rockwell Learning Centre is the learning centre of the Offsite Education Service, providing secondary education for up to 45 young people from S1 – S5. This can be on a part-time, shared placement basis with mainstream school, or full-time at Rockwell, depending upon the age, stage and needs of young people.
Provider Placements
- PACE (Pupil Access to College and Employability) – full-time Dundee and Angus College based course for the last 6 months of statutory education. There are 2 intakes per year.
- ‘Helm Training’ – full-time vocational orientated course for the last 6 months/last year of statutory education.
- ‘Progression Programme’ – full-time college based course lasting 10 weeks during the last 6 months of statutory education. There are 2 intakes per year.
Outcomes Include:
- Raised attainment and achievement for children and young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling
- Improved life chances for children and young people who are ‘looked after’ by Dundee City Council
- Every young person will be; Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included, which is at the heart of ‘Getting It Right for Every Child’
