This is the city’s place branding activity. 

The campaign promotes the city via a PR led campaign and runs the city’s branded portal www.dundee.com

 It seeks to ensure the profile of Dundee remains high amongst its key audiences

The council has many touch points with leisure visitors to the city and are focussed on growing the numbers of visitors coming to Dundee, especially overnight stays.  We are one of the stakeholders responsible for delivering on the City’s Tourism Strategy.  We commission and collect tourism data to allow us to measure the outputs of the sector in terms of employment and economic impact.

We facilitate Dundee Tourism Action group (DTAG) as well as regular forums and events bringing the tourism and hospitality sectors together.  We have created closed facebook pages and a tourism portal for business to business information available at www.d-tag.co.uk.

We are also involved in the Tay Cities Regional Tourism Strategy focusing on the 3 connector themes:  Culture & Creative; Food & Drink and Outdoor Aventure.

Dundee City Region Convention Bureau work with hospitality/industry partners and leading institutes to advance social and economic progress for Scotland and the region of Dundee, Angus, Fife and Perthshire through the platform of business events.  Collaborating with great minds from all academic institutions across the region in bringing national and international academic and professional association conferences to Dundee City and Region.

Resulting in:

• Advancing research centred around Scotland’s growth sectors
• Fostering international trade and intellectual engagement
• Wider economic benefits in addition to the bed night and direct delegate spend
• Influencing policies and actions and help sectors leapfrog and lead in a global community
• Attracting investment and people, helps the economy grow as a worldwide centre of excellence in key economic sectors

This is achieved by supporting the Pathfinders Programme to attract progressive business events which showcase our pioneering, creative and innovative thinking and our dynamic environment.  Pathfinders, encourages leading professionals to be part of a new movement, forging new links, driving new pathways and nurturing the future for academic, social and economic success through the platform of business events.

City Centre Management work closely with city centre stakeholders to:

• improve city centre facilities
• promote development of city centre retailing
• attract businesses and visitors
• promote a safe, crime free shopping and leisure environment

DD One

City Centre Management  is an executive member of DD One, a partnership which works to develop the economic potential of Dundee City Centre.

DD One is a private sector-led group whose agreed objective is to encourage representatives of both the private and public sectors to act together to develop the economic potential of Dundee City Centre.

City Centre Ambassadors

Undertake high profile patrols within the city centre, providing a service to both the City Council and the public, including tourists, visitors and those socially deprived, within the city centre.

The Events Team work towards making Dundee a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and study by supporting a range of events across the City.

The Events Team are responsible for delivering Dundee City Council events including Easter Fun Day, Dundee Summer Streets Festival, Fireworks displays and Christmas Light Nights. We also work closely with external event organisers to support and advise them to deliver events in Dundee's parks and public spaces like music events, races and community gala days.

Our focus as a city for events and festivals are those events which:

• have economic benefits to the city by attracting visitors, increasing overnight stays or having employment benefits
• promote the city, enhance Dundee’s visibility and raise our profile as a vibrant, contemporary international city
• are distinctive to Dundee by using the landscape, history, heritage or people of Dundee to make them unique
• are available to, and involve, members of the public in Dundee, or which inspire and involve local communities

The Events Strategy 2024-29 supports the development and delivery of a calendar of events that bring people together to share experiences, develop kinship and community, and celebrate. This Strategy seeks to support events activity in Dundee. It sets out the priority objectives for Dundee City Council and shows how we will continue to generate activity and work in partnership with others to ensure that Dundee is alive with activity across genres, scales, and seasons while making the most of our authentic assets.
