Dundee City Archives holds the records of Dundee City Council and its predecessors, including:
- Dundee District Council
- Dundee Town Council/Corporation
- Tayside Regional Council
We also accept records of businesses, societies and families relating to the City of Dundee as gifts or deposits.
On this page you will find more information about the records we hold. We do not currently have an online catalogue but this is something that we are currently towards and hope to have in the future. If what you are looking for is not listed on one of these pages, please contact us to find out if we hold it.

Please note that we do not hold copies of newspapers. These are held by the Local History Centre in the Central Library.
We do not have access to Birth, Marriage and Death Records or Census Returns. These can be accessed through ScotlandsPeople or by contacting the Registrars Office.

Reference Collection
We hold a variety of books, pamphlets, brochures and other published material relating to Dundee and its history. The items are all listed in our reference collection list. They are sorted alphabetically by topic.
Please note that in some cases published items are held as part of archive collections. In these cases these documents will not be listed in the reference collection e.g. booklets about the history of a school will be held with the school records if published by the school.
