Council Tax payments are due on or before 1st day of each month from April to January each year (over 10 monthly instalments). Payments received anytime after the due date of each month (generally the 1st of the month) could result in you being in arrears and receiving a reminder notice as the Council tightens up on late payers. The best way to avoid this is to sign up to pay by Direct Debit. 1. Pay by Direct Debit The is the simplest way to pay your Council Tax, you can choose to pay either on the 1st, 10th, 18th or 25th of each month. Sign up online - Set-up your own Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax online Sign up by telephone - Call our Customer Services Team on 01382 431205 who can set-up your Direct Debit immediately. Sign up by post - Fill in a Direct Debit form (118KB PDF) and return it to: Executive Director of Corporate Services, PO Box 6786, Dundee, DD1 3YP. 2. Pay online (using your debit/credit card) Pay Online - You will need your Council Tax account number which is on your bill. 3. Pay via telephone - (Using your debit/credit card) A 24 hour automated payment line is available by dialling 0845 6026943 (Calls charged at local rate). You will need to have your Council Tax account number and credit or debit card when you call. You will be told that your payment has been authorised and you will be given an authorisation code as confirmation. Your bank account or credit card account will be debited within three working days. Pay at Council office All council tax bills are produced with a payment barcode for easy payment. Simply hand the bill to the cashier advising of the amount you want to pay and a receipt will be issued on completion of payment. Payments made at any outlet displaying the Paypoint symbol will only accept payments made by cash only. Payments can be made at any of the Council offices listed below as before as well as at Post Offices (at no charge). Additionally, it also possible to pay at outlets displaying the above symbols. Pay Points are normally located at supermarkets, newsagents and garages and are often open late into the evenings and at weekends, increasing the ease and flexibility with which you can pay.
