A Community Clean-Up has taken place in the city’s West End as part of Dundee’s ongoing Take Pride in Your City campaign.

The clean-up which took place in the Pentland and Peddie Street areas of the West End this week is part of the wider Take Pride campaign aiming to help make a difference to Dundee’s neighbourhoods, parks and open spaces.

The three-day initiative saw council teams carry out additional works such as the removal of litter and debris, strimming from buildings, general tidying of communal areas where required and further sweeping to path and street areas.

Neighbourhood Services Convener Heather Anderson said: “The Community Clean-Ups have become an important part of the Take Pride in Your City effort across Dundee.

“The campaign continues to support communities to take a lead in preventing litter, dog fouling, fly-tipping, graffiti and discarded chewing gum in our streets, parks and greenspaces.

“Council staff have tackled specific areas based on the feedback from members of the local community to improve the condition and appearance of places close to where they live.

“We’ve helped to provide skips for recycling and the collection of household items, tidy up streets, pathways and communal areas.

“We hope this community-driven process will lead to more people around the city getting involved in the overall campaign and making a positive difference to their neighbourhood.”

The initiative has previously taken place in the Coldside, Strathmartine, Linlathen and Maryfield areas of the city.

More information about future community clean-ups will be communicated to residents directly ahead of them taking place.
