Support for key workers' parking

Support for key workers

FREE parking at all of Dundee City Council’s multi-storey and Shore Terrace surface car park will be available from tomorrow (Wednesday).

The council has taken the decision to support key workers who have to come into the city centre to deliver essential services.

John Alexander leader of Dundee City Council said: β€œIt is vitally important that the council does all it can to support people, not just in public services, but in critical healthcare and retail roles to do their jobs without having to worry about everyday issues.

β€œAs well as making Bell Street, Gellatly Street, Greenmarket and Olympia completely free to use for the foreseeable future, people will also be able to park for nothing at Shore Terrace.

β€œPlease park responsibly, avoid parking dangerously and in disabled bays, unless you are a blue badge holder."

Entry and exit barriers will be left open at each of the five sites and the staff usually employed on these locations freed up for other tasks.

All other car-parking charges remain in place and this announcement only relates to the five city council car parks identified.
