Coronavirus: Schools Update

Coronavirus: Schools Update Image

Schools update from Children & Families convener, Councillor Stewart Hunter:

β€œI am aware that parents and carers will have questions and concerns about the potential impact of coronavirus on our schools.

β€œLike all Scottish local authorities, Dundee City Council continues to closely follow the advice of the Scottish Government and NHS public health experts.

β€œIn line with that, all of our schools and nurseries will be open as normal tomorrow.

β€œThe Council is committed to keeping parents, carers, pupils and our staff informed during what is a rapidly-changing situation. Schools sent out a briefing note to parents last week, and will continue to provide updates.

β€œI would urge parents and staff to follow NHS advice If they are showing any signs of symptoms. You can find the latest advice on symptoms and self-isolation here:

β€œAdvice on how to maintain good hand hygiene can be found here:

β€œPlease be assured that authorities in the city, and across Scotland, are working hard to address the significant impacts of Coronavirus on our communities.

β€œIn terms of education, we’re monitoring staff and pupil absence data, planning for any future disruption to schools and liaising daily with government and NHS colleagues.

β€œI am grateful for your ongoing support. Please continue to follow our social media channels for the latest updates.”
