A LEADING councillor has welcomed a funding boost that will help build more social housing in Dundee.

Kevin Cordell convener of Dundee City Council’s neighbourhood services committee said that the extra Β£2.4m from the Scottish Government will support the programme to create 1000 more homes in four years.

He said: β€œThis brings the money we will be able to invest in social housing in Dundee up to Β£37.3m over the next two years and means that we can build 30 to 40 more homes for people who need them.

β€œAlong with our Registered Social Landlord partners we’ll continue with our programme of strategic housing investment to deliver affordable new homes in areas that people want to live in.”
