A LEADING councillor has welcomed a funding boost that will help build more social housing in Dundee.

Kevin Cordell convener of Dundee City Councilโ€™s neighbourhood services committee said that the extra ยฃ2.4m from the Scottish Government will support the programme to create 1000 more homes in four years.

He said: โ€œThis brings the money we will be able to invest in social housing in Dundee up to ยฃ37.3m over the next two years and means that we can build 30 to 40 more homes for people who need them.

โ€œAlong with our Registered Social Landlord partners weโ€™ll continue with our programme of strategic housing investment to deliver affordable new homes in areas that people want to live in.โ€
