New Cladding for Homes

Almost 40 houses in Whitfield could have new external cladding if councillors approve a ยฃ598,000 tender.

The work at 38 cottages in Murrayfield Gardens will see the existing timber weatherboard cladding replaced with low maintenance PVC.

Kevin Cordell convener of the councilโ€™s neighbourhood services committee said: โ€œIf this tender is approved work should start on site in October and be completed by March next year.

โ€œIt will mean that on-going maintenance costs drop dramatically and is another prudent investment in our housing stock.โ€

The neighbourhood services committee meets on Monday (September 24).
