Exploring Creative Pathways31/01/18
New resources to help Dundee secondary pupils explore the varied range of career opportunities on offer in the creative industries in the city will launched on Wednesday (31 January).
Dundee City Council are teaming up the Dundee Contemporary Arts to launch a film, alongside a publication, which aims to help young people and adults think about the wide variety of jobs that exist within the creative sector.
The publication and film will provide insight into specific career roles, assist pupils with subject choices, increase teacher’s knowledge of the creative employment opportunities available in the city and raise awareness of the skills employers are looking for.
Dundee City Council Leader Councillor John Alexander, who will be attending the launch, said: “Dundee has an ever growing cultural economy and it is key that our young people are equipped with the skills and knowledge to enable them to thrive in this sector.
“This launch highlights the ways in which the creative industry in Dundee is growing and its vital that we have the right resources in the city to enable people to stay here and drive this growth.”
Through funding made available from Creative Scotland all young people in S2 and S3 in Dundee City Council schools will receive a copy of the resource.
