Wall Insulation Investment30/11/15
Councillors will be asked to approve further external wall insulation investment throughout the city.
Monday’s (December 7) Housing Committee will discuss plans to improve the energy efficiency of over 80 properties to the value of over £400,000.
Developments that could benefit are Hospital Street and Mid Craigie 2nd Cottages.
Additional funding will come from the Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland – Area Based Schemes and Energy Company Obligation.
Housing Convener Councillor John Alexander said: “This substantial investment shows our clear commitment to improving the quality of our housing stock as well as tackling fuel poverty in the city.
“Improved insulation not only makes people’s houses warmer and easier to heat, it provides tangible benefits, such as cutting down residents energy bills.
“Tenants who have already benefited from external wall insulation projects throughout Dundee have been told us what a significant difference it has made to their standard of living.
“I am keen to ensure as many people as possible in the area benefit from similar work with the aim of providing warmer homes and a saving which ultimately results in some extra pounds in their bank accounts.”
